Kenneth F Fillers

Kenneth F. Fillers, age 92, of Greeneville left our order on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Durham-Hensley Nursing Home.

 

Mr. Fillers was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1957.

Bobby G. Wells

Bobby Gene Wells

Bobby Gene Wells 89,  a  Member of Post 1990 for over 65 years left our order on June 7th, 2023.

​

 In 1953, Bobby volunteered to serve in the United States Army where he was later stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home, he joined the Greeneville Police Department in 1957, where he was later promoted to Lieutenant, a position he held until his retirement in 1981.

Kenneth Reece Shaw 90,  a Life Member of Post 1990 left our order on March 2nd, 2023.

Kenneth was a Army and Marine Veteran.

Chester Purgason 93, a Life Member, left our order on February 15th, 2023.

 

Chester fought in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star for Valor.

David Rae Foshie 75, of Mosheim, a Life member of Post 1990 who served in Berlin, left our order on August 3rd, 2022.

Avery Ayers 90, A Life member of Post 1990 and Korean War Veteran, left our order on October 28th 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center.

Weldon Bebber 74, a Life Member of Post 1990,  left us on September 13th, 2021 due to complications from Covid. Weldon was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and retired from the military as a Sergeant First Class.

Dennis Whitmer

Dennis Edward Whitmer, “Grande” to all who knew him, age 54, a Life  Member of VFW Post 1990 and Greeneville's U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club, left our order at the Johnson City Veterans’s Hospital on September 30, 2021 due to Covid complications. “Grande” served in the United States Marine Corp from 1986-1990.

Chester Talmadge Walters, 96 of Ashland, VA, a Post 1990 Life member, left our order on July 5th, 2021, He was born and reared in Greene County.

​

As a Marine, he  served as a carrier-based fighter pilot during World War II and as a M.A.S.H helicopter rescue pilot  in Korea where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Commander William "Bill" Irwin 71, of Greeneville, a Life Member, has left our Order On March 5th, 2021. Bill was a US Marine Veteran.

James D Alcorn 73, a Life Member of Post 1990,  left us on December 18, 2020. He was retired from the United States Navy and spent 8 years as a NJ ROTC Instructor.

James “JR” Burgner 89 of Chuckey, a Life Member of Post 1990, left our Order on Friday January 22nd, 2021. J.R. was a veteran of the U.S. Army. who served for 20 years. JR served  in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After military retirement, he returned overseas twice as a helicopter mechanic.

Rankin Long 95 of Greeneville, left us on November 30, 2020.  He was a Post 1990 Member and a Navy Veteran that  served during WWII.  He was a retired Tennessee State Trooper that served Greene County.

Bobby Dale Collins 72, a Post 1990 Member and  Viet Nam Veteran, passed away October 19th, 2020.

Post 190 Arthur Ricker died October 5 20

Arthur Ricker 99, was our post's oldest Life Member, left our order on October 2nd, 2020.

 

He was  a World War 2 survivor of Operation Overlord, better known as D-Day, which took place on June 6, 1944.

Dr. Kenneth Susong 92,  a Post 1990 Life Member and  a Korean War Veteran ,  left us on September 23rd, 2020.

Arthur "Martell" Bible 84, a Post 1990 Life Member, left us on September 6th 2020. He  was retired from the United States Air Force, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
